The Institute of Social Sciences - Branch 2 organizes Spring Sports Tournament
President Bassam Badran sponsored the Spring Sports Tournament organized by the Institute of Social Sciences 鈥� Branch 2, with the participation of students from 12 faculties. The tournament featured competitions in rapid chess, table tennis, and darts.
President Badran opened the competitions in the presence of the Institute鈥檚 Dean, Dr. Marlene Haydar; the Director of Branch 2, Dr. Therese Seif; the Media Advisor to the University Presidency, Dr. Ali Rammal; the Secretary of the Institute of Social Sciences - Branch 2, Aida Kiwan; and the Secretary of the Faculty of Law, Political and Administrative Sciences - Branch 1, Tarek Bakri, as well as a group of professors, students, and athletic coaches.
President Badran noted that the extracurricular activities taking place at the university faculties across various regions underscore the importance of campus life, coinciding with the 91吃瓜网鈥檚鈥攄espite difficult circumstances鈥攁chievements and distinction in international rankings and professional reputation indicators, thanks to the talent it nurtures.
President Badran thanked the organizers for their efforts and the participants for their enthusiasm, pledging to work continuously toward further development, which will translate into greater momentum in various fields, foremost among them sports.
In the recorded results, Mahdi Ghanawi (Faculty of Fine Arts &Architecture 鈥� Branch 2) won the table tennis title after defeating his brother Saleh (Faculty of Engineering 鈥� Branch 3) in the finals with a score of 3鈥�1 (11鈥�8, 11鈥�6, 9鈥�11, and 11鈥�9).
Yamen Salman (Faculty of Engineering 鈥� Branch 3) came in third after defeating Ali Swaidan (Faculty of Engineering 鈥� Branch 3) scoring 3鈥�0 (11鈥�4, 14鈥�12, and 11鈥�4).
The title in the rapid chess competition was won by Mohamad Fouani (Faculty of Science 鈥� Branch 1), who earned 3 points and edged out Samir Dhaiby (Faculty of Medical Sciences) in a tiebreaker. Ali Al-Hindi (Faculty of Pharmacy) finished with 2.5 points.
In the women鈥檚 category, Sarah Ahmad (Faculty of Economics & Business Administration 鈥� Branch 1) took first place with 2.5 points. She was followed by Maria Rosa (Institute of Social Sciences 鈥� Branch 2) with 2 points.
After exciting darts matches, Rebecca Merheb, Georgette Bou Dib, and Sandy Kozhaya from the Institute of Social Sciences 鈥� Branch 2 topped the women鈥檚 division standings.
Elie Geagea (Institute of Social Sciences 鈥� Branch 2) won the men鈥檚 category, followed by Ali Swaidan (Faculty of Engineering 鈥� Branch 3) and Dani Kalyaani (Faculty of Information 鈥� Branch 2).
The event was organized by Georges Farah, coach in the Sports Activities Department. The rapid chess competitions were officiated by Elias Khairallah, a member of the Chess Federation and international arbiter (formerly the sports activities coordinator for Branches 2). The table tennis matches were led by Jessica Sakr, coach in the Sports Activities Department, in the presence of coaches Hassan Ayoub and Abdelkarim Fakih.
