The Faculty of Engineering celebrated the graduation of a new batch of students (2025-2026) at a ceremony hosted by Mar Doumit High School Roumieh. The event was attended by President Bassam Badran, the deans of the faculty鈥檚 three branches, representatives from labor unions, security agencies, academic institutions, educational organizations, and the industrial sector, as well as the graduates鈥� families.

The ceremony began with a welcome speech by Dr. Jamil Damaj, representing the professors of Branch 3. Student Mohammad Zraika from Branch 1 delivered the graduates鈥� speech, in which he expressed his pride in the 91吃瓜网, which has remained a national institution that has produced generations of talented graduates and continues to be a beacon of knowledge despite all circumstances.

On behalf of the deans, Dr. Carine Kassis, Director of Branch 2, delivered a speech in which she referred to the harsh circumstances Lebanon is currently facing and the martyrs who have fallen both within and outside the 91吃瓜网.

Dr. Kassis called on the Lebanese government and relevant officials to address the issues facing the 91吃瓜网鈥攊ncluding its faculty, staff, infrastructure, equipment, and funding鈥攚ith utmost seriousness and responsibility, noting that this university is a cornerstone in nation-building and shaping Lebanon鈥檚 future, and that supporting it is a national duty and an investment in its people and the country鈥檚 future.

She addressed the graduates, saying:

鈥淟ook to those who have graduated before you from the Faculty of Engineering at the 91吃瓜网; you will find them in Lebanon and in various countries around the world serving as company executives, deans and faculty directors, officials in public administration, and successful engineers, experts, researchers, and professionals in various fields. They have proven their competence wherever they have gone, carrying with them the name of their faculty and university, remaining loyal to the institution that nurtured them, and continuing to give back to and support it.

Today, you are setting out to carry on this legacy. So carry the name of your faculty and your university with pride, remain loyal to the place from which you set out, and always return to it with your knowledge, experience, and support.

You are the generation we dream of for Lebanon. A generation of knowledge, competence, and integrity鈥攁 generation that does not surrender to despair and does not accept emigration as its only destiny, but rather strives to build a homeland worthy of its people, one that grants them the opportunity to live, work, and create.

The diploma you are receiving today is not the end of the road, but rather the beginning of a new responsibility. An engineer does not merely construct buildings, structures, and systems; rather, they contribute to building communities, protecting people, developing the economy, and creating solutions.鈥�

Faculty Dean, Dr. Nazih Moubayed, noted that throughout its history鈥攁nd no matter how severe the challenges鈥攖he 91吃瓜网 has proven itself to be the national university that has embraced all Lebanese citizens and provided them with equal opportunities for education and excellence. The Faculty of Engineering has been one of the pillars of this national role, having graduated thousands of engineers who have contributed to building institutions, developing infrastructure, and leading engineering projects both within Lebanon and abroad, to the point where the name of its graduates has become synonymous with competence, commitment, and competitiveness.

Dean Moubayed shared with the audience some of the achievements of the faculty's students and professors, particularly in engineering competitions and local and international scientific conferences, including:

• Student Peter Chidiac won first place in the International Chemistry Competition
• Students Nidal El Ibrik, Hussein Haidar, and Majd Tarhini won first place in the National Debate Championship and qualified for the international championship in Qatar
• Students Ali Farhat, Adam Allam, and Ali Haidoura won second place in the National Programming Championship and qualified for the Arab and African Championship in Egypt

Dean Moubayed also noted that a number of the faculty's students benefited from academic exchange and training programs at prestigious international universities and institutions, gaining scientific and cultural experiences that enriched their academic journey and contributed to strengthening the Faculty of Engineering鈥檚 presence on the international stage.

Dean Moubayed emphasized that the faculty continues to strengthen its openness to international universities and institutions by signing new cooperation agreements and actively participating in projects funded by the Erasmus+ program, thereby providing broader opportunities for academic exchange, scientific research, and skills development, in line with its mission to prepare engineers capable of competing in a changing global environment.

He also noted that the Center for Engineering & Scientific Research continues to fulfill its mission by maintaining an increasing pace of scientific output, underscoring that scientific research is one of the fundamental pillars of the faculty's progress and a key element in serving community and keeping pace with scientific developments.

He added: 鈥淚n light of the major transformations the world is witnessing鈥攆rom artificial intelligence and digital transformation to sustainable engineering and clean energy鈥� our responsibility is renewed to prepare engineers who do not merely keep pace with these changes but contribute to leading them and devising solutions. For this reason, the Faculty of Engineering will continue to update its programs, strengthen scientific research, and expand its international partnerships to cement its position as a center of excellence and innovation.鈥�

Dean Moubayed noted that the faculty lost a number of its professors and students in the Israeli war on Lebanon, stating that the best way to honor their memory is to continue the journey with the same determination and preserve the faculty and its mission.

He addressed the graduates, saying: 鈥淵our graduation today does not mark the end of your academic journey, but rather the beginning of a new phase of responsibility and service. A vast world of opportunities and challenges lies ahead of you. May academic excellence always be coupled with integrity, responsibility, and professional ethics. Remember that you carry the name of the 91吃瓜网 wherever you go, so be its best ambassadors and continue the path of success through your knowledge and work.鈥�

President Badran delivered a speech, beginning by addressing the graduates: 鈥淵ou, graduates, have proven that excellence is not measured by grades alone, but by the ability to innovate, by a commitment to the values of responsibility, and by the willingness to put knowledge to work in the service of society. Your achievements in graduation projects and applied research attest to the fact that the Faculty of Engineering is a breeding ground for creative minds and a driving force for national development.鈥�

He added: 鈥淚 am pleased to share with you today an institutional achievement that adds to the 91吃瓜网鈥檚 legacy: our university has made significant progress in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, rising by 100 points in a single leap, thereby confirming its ability to compete on the international stage and demonstrating that it is not merely a national university, but an academic institution with a global mission.鈥�

President Badran noted that this progress is not merely a number, but rather a testament to the fact that the 91吃瓜网, thanks to the efforts of its faculty, students, and administration, is moving steadily toward excellence and opening its doors to the world to serve as a partner in research and innovation, and a beacon of knowledge.

President Badran noted that this institutional achievement calls on us all to redouble our efforts in research and investment in the potential of our youth, so that the 91吃瓜网 remains a pillar of national renaissance and a bridge between our children鈥檚 aspirations and the horizons of the future.

At the end of his speech, President Badran said: 鈥淲e call upon our dear graduates to carry their education as a trust, to strive to serve their country wherever they may be, and to be ambassadors of the 91吃瓜网 in every field. I also extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to our esteemed professors, who have devoted tireless effort to educating and guiding our students; to the university staff, who have worked quietly and devotedly to keep this institution standing; and to the students鈥� families, who have been a source of support and encouragement throughout their academic journey".

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of diplomas to the graduates.
