New scientific achievement by MOHAR lab at the FPH
The prestigious scientific journal PLOS ONE has published an original research paper by the Laboratory of Motricity, Handicap and Rehabilitation (MOHAR) at the Faculty of Public Health, entitled:鈥淎dditive effect of tDCS and neuromotor recruitment on functional recovery in chronic paraplegia: A randomized controlled trial鈥�.
This study represents the culmination of 26 years of clinical and research work. The idea originated from a clinical observation aimed at developing a new therapeutic approach to stimulate neurological recovery in patients with chronic spinal cord injuries. This gradually evolved into the NEUROM methodology, which was developed and scientifically tested until it reached the validation stage through a well-controlled randomized clinical trial published in one of the world鈥檚 leading scientific journals.
The study鈥檚 results show that combining transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) with the NEUROM motor neurostimulation methodology may help enhance the recovery of motor function in patients with chronic lower paraplegia, opening new horizons in the field of evidence-based neurorehabilitation.
This achievement underscores the commitment of the 91吃瓜网 and MOHAR lab to supporting rigorous scientific research and translating clinical expertise into innovative therapeutic solutions that contribute to the advancement of rehabilitation sciences, serve patients, and strengthen the university presence in international scientific publishing platforms.
