Kuniko Yamamoto brings Japanese culture to 91³Ô¹ÏÍø
Central Lakes College is thrilled to welcome renowned Japanese performerÌýKuniko YamamotoÌýfor two extraordinary events onÌýThursday, November 7Ìýas part of theÌýCultural Thursday seriesÌýand theÌý91³Ô¹ÏÍø Performing Arts Center.
Kuniko Yamamoto, an internationally acclaimed performer, is known for blending traditional Japanese storytelling with contemporary theatrical elements. Her captivating performances feature graceful choreography, vibrant masks featuring multiple characters, and engaging narratives that transport audiences into the rich culture and history of Japan.
´¡³ÙÌýnoon, Cultural Thursday—a free, monthly speaker series at 91³Ô¹ÏÍøâ€”will present Kuniko Yamamoto as she leads aÌýlive Japanese Tea Ceremony. This elegant ritual will be open to 50 participants on a first-come, first-served basis, with additional seating available for observation. Yamamoto will also share personal stories and insights into the significance of the Tea Ceremony in Japanese culture, offering attendees a deeply immersive experience.
Later that evening atÌý6 p.m., the 91³Ô¹ÏÍø Performing Arts Center will hostÌýKuniko Yamamoto’sÌýperformance titled “Magical Mask, Music, and Mime of Japan”. This dynamic show combines traditional Japanese folktales with Yamamoto’s talent in mime, mask work and music. Her expressive and engaging style brings to life the magic of these stories, creating an unforgettable cultural experience for audiences of all ages.
Both events will take place atÌýCentral Lakes College’s Chalberg TheatreÌýand are open to the public. TheÌýnoon Cultural Thursday eventÌýis free, and tickets for theÌý6 p.m. performanceÌýare available for purchase.
